There were some great ideas shared in your chat on Tuesday. I agree with the importance of talking to your kids. This can start during dinner. Find out what's going on in their lives, talk to them about any problems they're experiencing, or any exciting news they have to share. That way you'll have a clue as to what's going on if something seems to be bothering them at bedtime. I banish monsters for my little kids by shining a flashlight around the room and showing them what the scary shadows really are. My friend has even used "monster spray" which is just a mister bottle filled with water. She sprayed it around her son's room to repel any boogeymen. If your little one is scared of the dark, make sure they've got a nice nightlight to help illuminate their room. I let my kids have a snack before they go to bed, but I limit fluids to help with nighttime wetting. My 5 year old, who has been completely dry at night for over a year, has recently been having some bedwetting problems. I've been taking a little extra time with him at night to make sure he isn't feeling bad about the wetting. I've been concentrating on creative a positive sleep environment for him and I assure him it isn't his fault and it's no big deal when he wets in the middle of the night. Thankfully, I have 6 kids and know that this will eventually pass and it's not that big a deal. It's certainly nothing to get mad about. If you have a child with nighttime wetting issues, limit fluids before bed, encourage them to use the bathroom before going to sleep, have them use Goodnites underpants, and give them an extra hug and let them know how much you love them. :)

I love bedtime at my house! I read a book to my four year old every night. Most of the time I end up spending a half hour in there just playing with her. It's almost counterproductive!! But my daughter is always good when I close the door and say our little "Good night. Sleep tight. Don't let the bed bugs bite!" routine. :) Recent Videos
